HVP’s Gelliondale Nursery is situated west of Yarram in Gippsland and is Australasia’s leading containerised pine tree plant nursery. Within the one site it contains: Seed Orchards; stool plants; and a plant propagation, growing and dispatch system that is the starting point for the ongoing, sustainable cycle of growth of 163,000 ha of HVP plantation around Victoria.
The nursery also dispatches about 10 million seedlings annually and implements a breeding program for continuous improvement in plant growth and resilience and wood quality.

This role is based in our HVP Gelliondale Nursery office in Gippsland – A place of all kinds of wonder!
We’re looking for the next talented and curious Seed Orchard Technician to be part of a unique team and contribute your knowledge by establishing and maintaining open-pollinated (OP) and control-pollinated (CP) Seed Orchards. The role will also harvest, process and store seed produced from Seed Orchards in order to meet HVP seed requirements and in a timely and efficient manner.
This opportunity is aimed towards someone with relevant industry experience, good leadership and interpersonal skills, proof of good safety and environmental performance experience. A diploma in horticulture, arboriculture or similar field will be well-regarded.

Other information
- This position may require you to travel to other HVP office locations and at times, overnight travel. A current Australian driver’s licence with potential to drive a manual vehicle is required.
