We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.

The Opportunity

An Exciting opportunity exist within Youth & Women’s Safety Wellbeing Division to join us as a Senior Aboriginal Clinical Health Worker.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide community engagement, Clinical Health assessment, treatment, referral, psychosocial support, and advocacy, including associated record-keeping, for women dealing with a variety of complex health issues both individually and in group settings.
  • Undertake an advocacy role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, to ensure their health and well-being circumstances and service needs are considered.
  • Work consultatively, collaboratively and in partnership as part of a multi-disciplinary health team.
  • Development of partnerships and collaborative initiatives with Aboriginal community groups/agencies, other health professionals and referral organisations.
  • Provide specific detailed cultural knowledge, expertise and advice to educate and assist staff to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Cert IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care, Practice or equivalent which is recognised by the Aboriginal Health Council of SA.
  • To be known, respected and connected within Aboriginal communities and demonstrated ability to work in a culturally sensitive and accountable manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities and non-Aboriginal individuals whilst maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to lead, influence and promote the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within a Health Service delivery setting.
  • The ability to work under general direction, determine priorities and organise workloads to deliver to deadlines and as a member of a team to problem solve and resolve conflict.
  • High level of skill in planning, developing, implementing and delivering a range of projects and group work with a range of complexity that support self-management of health care.
