About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing monthly management reports, annual financial statements, audits, and handling tax obligations (GST, fringe benefits tax, income tax, payroll tax) for the company and associated entities.
- Assist with accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
- Develop a monthly team timetable and workflow to ensure the delivery of management and financial reports aligns with business and legal requirements.
- Oversee the management of the fixed asset register, including the calculation of tax and accounting depreciation rates for newly acquired assets.
- Manage the chart of accounts, dimensions, and the setup of the accounting system for optimal performance.
- Take ownership of all 4Cabling Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Manage all aspects of taxation, including income tax (deferred tax calculations, accounting recognition, and return lodgement), GST, FBT, and payroll tax.
- Manage both interim and year-end audit processes, preparing financial statements and debt covenant calculations.
- Manage the end-to-end payroll processing function, ensuring accurate and timely payment to all employees.
- Hands on mentor and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency of financial operations. Proactively seek ways to streamline processes and increase accuracy.
- Collaborate with various departments to facilitate the attainment of business objectives.
- Participate in, lead, and contribute to ongoing projects aligned with the company's goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a similar finance or accounting role.
- Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting or equivalent degree.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualifications highly regarded, though extensive experience in the field may be considered a sufficient substitute.
- Superior knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with experience in management accounting.
- Demonstrated experience with financial systems, particularly Jim 2, Phocas, and .WMS, highly regarded.
- Experience in the distribution sector considered an advantage.
- Proven track record of working effectively with auditors and ensuring tax compliance across a range of obligations (GST, income tax, payroll tax, etc.).
- Advanced skills in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and other BI tools
- High attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
