Job description

Reframe what’s possible as the Senior Accounts Payable Officer with Maxima. Use your accounting and leadership skills to manage the Accounts Payable function of the company, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments to vendors. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work closely with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely payments, resolve payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.


This position is permanent, full-time, based at our Hindmarsh head office and will have access to salary sacrifice up to $15,900 of your yearly income.

Some of the Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable process, including reviewing and processing invoices, monitoring payment deadlines, and reconciling Accounts Payable transactions
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors, including reconciling invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, resolve issues, and negotiate favourable payment terms
  • Management and oversight of purchase cards and associated processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including reconciling Accounts Payable transactions, preparing reports and analysis, and providing input to the accounting team for month-end and year-end close
  • Monitor and report on Accounts Payable performance, including identifying trends and areas for improvement, and implementing process improvements to streamline the Accounts Payable function
  • Manage and develop Accounts Payable staff, including providing training and coaching, setting performance goals, and conducting performance evaluations
  • Development and monitoring of relevant group finance policy

Skills and experience required:

To be successful in this role you will have strong interpersonal skills, with experience developing a team. Your communication skills will be second to none and you will have a high level of financial modelling skills. Coupled with your strong Accounts Payable skills, you will be resilient, results oriented and detail conscious with strong business acumen.

You will need;

  • 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable across mid to large firms, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards, including accounting principles, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing, working with, and developing a team
  • Previous experience with mid-tier ERP systems (Business Central, Dynamics, Epicor)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft packages, primarily MS Excel
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce (desirable)
  • Evidence of approved ATAGI COVID Vaccinations, or a valid exemption, as required from the relevant government health authority
  • A current National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance) (or be willing to obtain one)
  • A current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Check (or be willing to obtain one)
