The Senior Advisor for Safeguarding & Incident Management sits within the Quality & Risk Team, reporting to the Manager of Quality & Risk. This senior position will play a key role in designing and implementing various safeguarding systems to ensure organisational compliance. Responsibilities include Meli’s Safeguarding and Incident Management Frameworks, systems, training, and records management. Additionally, this role involves managing changes to the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Client Incident Management System (CIMS) in line with organisational policy, and external regulatory and legislative requirements.
You will need experience leading Quality and Risk activity in a complex service environment. The Senior AdvisorSafeguarding & Incident Management is responsible for undertaking a needs analysis and leading the work to design and implement the Meli approach, including the management of various mandatory obligations (including allegations of child abuse under the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Client Incident Management System (CIMS) the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) Reportable Conduct Scheme), Child Safe Standards, and privacy legislation. As such, you will require strong communication skills to build relationships, evaluate options and develop clear guidance to support decision making.
The role has a specific focus ensuring incident reporting and management and safeguarding is embedded in every role at Meli to enable robust responses and maximise learning, quality, and practice improvement from incidents and feedback. This position will work closely with the Quality & Risk Team and various internal and external stakeholders.

- Bachelor’s degree in social science or relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
- Significant experience in the management of quality, risk, or continuous improvement projects in complex service environments.
- Well-developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing key stakeholders to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in QIP or quality equivalent systems, and risk management methodologies and knowledge of relevant legislation and standards relating to delivery of human services.
- Knowledge and practical application of legislation, practices and procedures, including a detailed understanding of the DFFH Client Incident Management Policy and CCYP Reportable Conduct Scheme and related investigation frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and supervising staff.
