About the role
Support the Corporate Development team in the provision of financial analysis and commercial evaluation of projects (internal and external business development opportunities), including opportunity identification, project ranking, due diligence, financial evaluation and modelling and strategy support, and providing recommendations so that the MinRes Executive can make investment and growth decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Help the business identify and evaluate internal and external development opportunities
- Commercial evaluation to assess the financial viability of projects including maintaining and developing project financial models that are used to support business cases
- Ongoing market analysis and industry profiling to support business unit and corporate strategies
- Help maintain investment criteria for identification of potential acquisition targets in consultation with key stakeholders
- Help maintain a process for completing screening, identification and ranking of potential acquisition targets according to agreed investment criteria
- Generate and present ranked recommendations on investment and growth options to the executive for both internal and external opportunities
- Assist with due diligence and evaluation of projects with public and non-public data
- Work with legal, commercial and finance teams to execute investments
- Assist with stakeholder engagement across the business
- Prepare detailed high-quality presentations for the decision makers in the business
- Help to maintain industry datasets including commodity price decks and peer information
What you’ll bring to the team
- Tertiary level education in finance/business/engineering/geology/mineral economics
- 5+ years’ experience in natural resources project/asset evaluation, corporate analysis, and due diligence within the mining industry
- High level financial modelling skills and excellent technical and commercial evaluation skills for mining and processing projects
- Strong presentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
