About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join AEMO’s Strategy team, which plays a key role in setting the strategic direction for AEMO. The team drives and embeds strategic thinking, develop and deliver AEMO’s short and long term strategy in collaboration with the Board, Executive Leadership team and the business stakeholders. The energy transition and rapidly evolving energy landscape will require AEMO to tackle key strategic issues and questions and make critical choices, to best achieve its role in the energy industry and help progress the energy transition.
We are looking for a Principal and a Senior Strategy Analyst to join us as part of a tight-knit strategy team to develop and implement AEMO’s short – long term strategy, and manage the integrated strategic planning process including the development of the annual strategic corporate plan. Our Principal and Senior Strategy Analysts will leverage their strategy and energy industry experience and knowledge to analyse Australian energy system and trends, scenarios, and themes to answer key strategic questions and lead the analysis utilising their strategy toolkit. By supporting AEMO’s strategy development, implementation, and communication, you will drive meaningful change for AEMO, in a way that balances stakeholder needs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage/Support the planning and development of the long term strategy and the annual strategic corporate plan for AEMO
- Lead/support the monitoring, research and analysis of external market and industry trends to help AEMO understand emerging trends, strategic implications to AEMO and prepare strategic responses executed through our strategy
- Frame, analyse, and answer strategic questions using strategic frameworks and toolkit including qualitative and quantitative tools
- Translate energy insights and analysis to actionable strategies for AEMO to navigate the energy landscape
- Contribute to the development of thought-provoking strategic content to support strategic discussions with the Board and Executive Leadership team
- Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders across the business through the strategic planning and development process
- Drive the development of annual strategic corporate plan and support the effective communication of the plan to internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with leaders across the business to ensure alignment of business plans to the overall strategy
- Monitor and measure the delivery and achievement of AEMO’s strategy, through tracking of AEMO’s strategic initiatives and scorecard and preparing Board / Executive level reports
- Strong experience in the energy sector and/or strategy development, with preference for demonstrated experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, energy markets and policy, or roles within the energy sector
- Demonstrated experience in effectively defining problem statements, determining the approach and tools to undertake the analysis / research required and translating analysis to the ‘so what’
- Ability to effectively articulate/distil complex themes and data into meaningful and clear narratives and insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
