Senior Aquaculture Technician

Spring Creek Barramundi is an industry leader in Barramundi Aquaculture located in Townsville, North Qld. The farm is seeking a Senior Aquaculture Technician to join its skilled team of aquarists to contribute to its ongoing production of Australia’s premium Barramundi.

The position of Senior Aquaculture Technician will lead small groups of staff to undertake operational tasks within the farm and enhance daily operations efficiency. The Senior Technician will be key support for the Assistant Growout Manager and responsible for improving job completion rates and operational efficiency. This role requires a minimum of two years’ experience and preferably formal aquaculture training or experience in a similar role within the industry. This role presents an excellent opportunity to enter our company in a middle tier position with opportunity to further advance for the right person. Duties and responsibilities that accompany this position:

Supervising a team of Aquaculture Technicians to carry out the following:

• Live fish transport
• Infrastructure development
• Process and procedure improvement
• R&D
• Fish Feeding
• Testing Water Quality parameters
• System maintenance
• Weekend and on call work
• Machinery operations

Successful applicants will have a strong work ethic, experience at a similar role even if in a different industry, willingness to learn, genuine desire to be part of an industry leading team, excellent attention to detail, critical thinking to achieve results in unfamiliar situations, able to work independently, lead by example and supervise other technicians to achieve set tasks and improvement projects.
