The Company

China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) is one of the largest banking corporations in China and is the 2nd largest bank in the world by asset size. With dominant presence already established in China, CCB is proactively expanding onto overseas markets and currently has over 30 offices operating outside China.

China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB), Sydney Representative Office was set up in November 2007.In August 2010, the Australian Prudential and Regulation Authority (APRA) approved China Construction Bank Corporation as a foreign authorised deposit taking institution, authorising it to carry on banking business in Australia. CCB Sydney Branch can conduct wholesale banking business in Australia, including corporate lending and deposit, international settlement, trade finance, AUD clearing etc. 

CCB Adelaide Sub Branch will officially launch in 2024, and we are looking for talented individuals to join this newly established sub-branch.

Job Purpose 
  • Preparing credit analysis, report writing in both English and Chinese, client information and monitoring loan portfolio;
  • Provide support to Director to maintain and manage client portfolio and develop new clients & relationships;
  • Provide support to originate and execute trade and supply chain finance solutions for both domestic branches and local trade clients;
  • Conduct client due diligence review and KYC in both client onboard and annual review processes;
  • Maintaining the Branch’s financial and operational risk data incorporating periodic reconciliation & reporting to relevant Departments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Senior Associate will have a very “hands on” position, which includes responsibility for the following duties:

  • Assist Director to meet the branch’s objectives & budgets including Asset, Liability and Profitability growth across all business functions;
  • Assist the team to liaise with CCB Sydney Office and CCB Head Office as required;
  • Assist Director in the preparation of quality credit applications in line with credit policies and processes;
  • Maintain an awareness of lending structures and contracts and any market conventions therein;
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and legal requirements within the Branch/department and as a contributor to adherence by the bank as a whole;
  • Ensure that the Branch authorities and procedures are adhered to at all times;
  • Communicate clearly & effectively with operational departments in order to facilitate precise processing of Middle and Back Office functions as they pertain to the Branch’s transactions and the processing of loans, derivative products and deposits, including appropriate accounting treatment of same;
  • Work with regulators, internal or external auditors as required;
  • Perform various other administrative tasks and any other tasks assigned by the Director or Management as required.
Experience

The candidate must have a minimum of 5 year experience in banking and financial markets and a fundamental understanding of relevant industry products & services including, but not limited to, large commercial & corporate lending, simple interest rate and FX rate derivative products, money markets and trade finance. A strong awareness of general banking compliance and anti-money laundering requirements is essential. Specifically, the incumbent must have 3 year experience in working in Australia with a broad range of financial products.

Skills
  • A solid understanding of the banking and financial markets industry, its services and processes, with a particular focus on Corporate and Institutional Banking as well as project finance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese are essential.
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications (Degree Level) is preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge of PC-based applications and familiarity with banking systems used for transactional booking, recording, and reporting.
  • Proven experience in delivering great customer service.
  • Unquestionable personal and professional integrity.
  • A proactive attitude in addressing complex and challenging issues.
  • Effective time management skills.
