The Opportunity

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Base Engineer specialising in either Aviation/Avionics or Mechanical disciplines to join our team in Tamworth, NSW

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is pivotal in successfully leading the engineering team to ensure effective maintenance operations and regulatory compliance within Sigma Aerospace's dynamic aviation environment.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring adherence to CASA regulations and manufacturer's data while maintaining strict quality control.
  • Overseeing business and operational outcomes, including meeting customer deadlines and managing maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Managing overall operational activities, including supervising staff, planning resources, and promoting the company's services.
  • Ensuring facility compliance with engineering procedures and OH&S regulations, as well as planning for equipment needs.
  • Undertaking management responsibilities such as reporting deficiencies, suggesting business improvements, and maintaining consistent quality control.
  • Addressing key challenges like generating significant turnover, maintaining compliance, organizing maintenance schedules, and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow.

About You 

To qualify for the Chief Engineer role at Sigma Aerospace, you will need extensive experience in aviation maintenance and engineering. Additionally, possessing strong leadership skills and a proven track record in achieving business and operational goals is crucial.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • In-depth knowledge of CASA regulations and manufacturer's data
  • Experience in managing maintenance tasks and meeting customer deadlines
  • Skills in operational management including resource planning and team supervision
  • Familiarity with engineering procedures and OH&S regulations
  • Ability to handle business improvement strategies and quality control
