Job description

Our client has extensive experience within the commercial and residential sectors, they are focused on providing quality services for their clients to create safe compliant buildings therefore minimising risk. They currently have an opening for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join their Tasmanian team. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support existing client base through sound technical knowledge and professionalism.
  • Assist to develop and support the ongoing growth of the office.
  • Carry out regulatory assessments on all types of commercial and residential projects.
  • Complete early phase compliance assessments and reporting.
  • Complete building permit assessments with the support of assistant Building Surveyors.
  • Facilitate the preparation of building permits, occupancy permits, certificates and documentation. 
  • Manage multiple projects from beginning to end delegating responsibilities as required.
  • Lead and assist the development of junior staff, through growth, education and support.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and provide technical assistance to clients.
  • Identify improvements, efficiencies and implement action plans in collaboration with other staff members to promote the business.
  • Attend site inspections and design meetings as required. 

Qualifications / Experience: 

  • Registration as Building Surveyor Open / Unlimited (or very close to Registering).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role is preferred, however open to considering all levels of experience 
  • Sound knowledge of current Building Act, Regulations and Building Code of Australia.
  • Be well informed with Building Surveyors Code of Practice in Tasmania
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Computer literate. 
  • Current Driver’s licence.
