From the foothills to the coast, our city’s reach boasts one of the largest in South Australia.

As one of the largest councils in South Australia we provide a positive customer service experience to the ongoing establishment of our residential and industrial areas. Our Development and Regulatory Team is a major part of why the City of Marion is such a great place to live, work and play.

The Development and Regulatory team are staffed with a close-knit team of Building Surveying professionals (Development Officers) with a great working culture. Each officer is responsible for the undertaking of building rules assessment and inspection of all classes and types of buildings. They provide sound building and development advice to internal and external customers, investigate unsafe developments and monitor the fire safety and occupancy of buildings.

We now have a vacancy for a Senior Building Surveyor who seeks to work in a collaborative and positive team culture and independently manage a workload in an environment that supports your current and future abilities.

Reporting to the Unit Manager Regulatory Services, our Building Surveyors work in a highly flexible environment allowing them to balance site inspections, office-based and home-based work. With efficient procedures in place helping the team work autonomously and make collective decisions, our Building Surveyors are also encouraged to continually develop their skills. They are supported by a personalised development program allowing them to tailor Career Planning Development and learning and development opportunities to suit individual needs.

A day in life in this position includes the following.

We are looking to receive applications from suitably experienced Building Surveyors. This position represents a great career choice for an applicant looking to take the next step, or for a more experienced officer that seeks to work in a challenging and positive environment.

It is assumed you will possess a solid understanding of the national Construction Code, the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and associated legislation.
