Your role
As the Senior Business Analyst – Corporate Systems, you be responsible for overseeing the development of business processes, policies and systems that will support the delivery of the SEC’s energy market objectives.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do:
- Business Analysis & Process Definition– identify, document and maintain business processes across the Corporate Systems and Data domains.
- Business Requirements Specification – collaborate across the Corporate, Finance, HR, Procurement and Energy Markets teams and conduct business requirements workshops to illicit and capture business requirements for Corporate Systems and Data solutions.
- Vendor Engagement– Engages and builds relationships with outsourced services procured, such as ERP and Corporate Service providers ensuring that requirements are completely and appropriately presented, in alignment with proper contract management and product delivery processes.
- Technology Governance – Collaborates with architecture team and participates in Architecture Review Board discussion, acting as a trusted advisor for Corporate, HR, Finance and Procurement teams.
- Business process and systems improvement – collaborate across the HR, Finance and Procurements teams to develop and maintain a forward-looking view of market competitive requirements and supporting technical capability. Support solution design via translating information from stakeholders, systems, delivery and business artifacts into clear specifications that enable quality outcomes.
- Partnering and co-creation – Work alongside key business and technology stakeholders to capture end-end business/user requirements and enable solution identification. Identify and partner with users/stakeholders/experts to ensure active collaboration in the design process to understand user needs, obtain ideas, insights and input.
- Data Governance – Act as a product owner for the data platform and ensure solutions across the SEC technology landscape meet established data standards to help achieve ‘Data as an Asset’ objective.

- Strong technical nous with deep understanding of corporate business applications and systems landscape.
- Exceptional analytical skills and ability to apply a structured and systemic approach to articulating requirements and solutions.
- Systems Thinking: Formulates potential courses of action to achieve objectives based on an in-depth understanding of the business environment & its systems
- Great relationship building, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Ability to write high quality reports, deliver presentations and run requirements workshops, business case development and have experience presenting information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project Delivery: Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes; Coordinates and guides others in the execution of work activities; Monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
- Influence and Persuasion: ability to gain agreement to proposals & ideas; build behind the scenes support for ideas to ensure buy-in & ownership; use chains of indirect influence to achieve outcomes; Involve experts or other third parties to strengthen case.
Highly Desirable:
Qualifications and experience:
- Business Analysis qualifications (e.g., CBAP/Agile) is highly desirable.
- Managing solution requirements and project deliverables through various project management tools (Agile and Waterfall). such as MS Project, Jira, Scrum Boards.
- Minimum 10 years working in a Business Analyst role or similar on IT or Business change projects / programs is highly desirable.
- Project delivery experience across one or more of Human Resources, Procurement and Finance.
- Implementation of Data Modelling and/or Data Visualization applications.
