About Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health (AWH)
Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is established in the twin cities of Albury and Wodonga, between Sydney and Melbourne. Our dedicated team of nearly 3,000 staff supports a population of 250,000 people throughout North-East Victoria and Southern NSW. Our extensive network encompasses two primary hospital campuses, and an additional 22 sites, delivering a diverse range of emergency, community, mental health, allied health and sub-acute services.
AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.
About the Role
The Senior Carer Peer Worker (ICYMHS Group Based Parenting Program) will be a valued member of the AWH LLEW and ICYMHS teams and will be required to bring lived and living experience expertise to inform the leadership, design and delivery of the ICYMHS Group Based Parenting Program. We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.
- Publicly disclosed lived and living experience/s of caring for an infant, child or young person who has accessed/is accessing mental health and wellbeing services.
- Publicly disclosed lived and living experiences of caring for an infant, child or young person who has experienced mental ill health,psychological distress, alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, suicidality,trauma and/or eating disorders.
- Lived and living experience of carer recovery, discovery, and healing.
- Experience as a Carer Peer Worker within a mental health and wellbeing service setting.
- Qualifications/training in Carer Peer practice such as Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (carer stream) Intentional Peer Support training.
- Experience and/or qualification/training in group facilitation

The Incentive program was designed by the Department of Health to support the attraction, relocation, and retention of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) workers to priority positions area mental health and wellbeing services across rural and regional Victoria.
