About the Company

Budget Pet Products is Australia's leading online pet and vet store. Established in 2009, they have over 150 (pet-loving) employees running a 24/7 operation in the Gold Coast (head office) and in Derrimut, Melbourne. 

Amidst substantial growth, we are actively seeking a Category Manager with the capability to cultivate outstanding working relationships, positioned to create a significant impact in the pet and vet e-commerce industry.

The Role

Based in our Molendinar head office location, you will work with a team of devoted pet enthusiasts with a mission to simplify pet ownership. Play a pivotal role in developing long-term viability strategies of a food category in a high-volume online retail setting.

Your innovative approach and trend-spotting skills will be crucial for driving new opportunities, leading to increased sales and portfolio growth.

To make this come to life, you will:

  • Create and implement strategic long-term plans to drive growth in the category, ensuring progress aligns with timelines.
  • Develop and nurture strong supplier relationships, showcasing solid influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Manage the development and enhancement of major portfolio categories, executing successful supplier plans.
  • Analyse sales data and supplier insights to contribute to long-term category strategy and trend identification.
  • Managing and optimising product lifecycle and online navigation of product categories; enhancing our products online.
  • Oversee individual and total category financial performance, including forecasting, budget management, gross margins, margin optimization, and overall category results.
  • Drive sales identification and margin optimisation.

About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience as a Senior Category Manager or Category Manager
  • Minimum 1-3 years in FMCG or Pharmacy industry in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in growing a category.
  • Logical thinking, mathematical inclination, and an innovative spirit.
  • Analytical and commercial mindset.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong computer literacy and high levels of attention to detail.
  • Results-driven with high levels of influencing and presentation skills.
  • Confident, solution-focused, with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a positive team environment.
  • Capability to thrive within an extremely fast-paced environment.
