The role of Senior Civil Engineer / Estimator will see you working from our head office in Victoria Park WA., providing support and assistance for the compilation of tenders and proposals for our Maintenance and Industrial Services division.

The successful person will be self-motivated and a problem solver who wants to work with the best. An individual with extension of experience with following skill set in order of priority; concrete, detailed earthworks, bulk earthworks, piping - water, non- process infrastructure and mining.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing qualitative and quantitative data for inclusion in tenders, including obtaining relevant information/data, calculating costings and providing advice and information
  • Provide expert estimating advice to the business unit and assist with compiling major tenders, proposals and expressions of interest on behalf of the division.
  • Review tender documentation and calculate costings for submissions
  • Develop and review tenders and proposals for quality, risk, accuracy, and completeness; responding quickly to correct problems

What you will bring

  • Extension of experience and knowledge with following skill set in order of priority; concrete, detailed earthworks, bulk earthworks, piping - water, non- process infrastructure and mining.
  • Detailed understanding of brownfield projects and operations including but not limited to structural steel, piping, surface treatment, screens, conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, apron feeders and general processing plants preferably in the iron ore industry
  • Well-developed communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to foster interpersonal relationships across all levels
  • A methodical approach, high attention to detail and take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of own work
  • A strong understanding of trades and disciplines involved in site/project operations coupled with knowledge of relevant industry rates
  • Demonstrated experience developing & utilise estimating systems, procedures and templates to streamline tender preparation and submission including the ability to accurately calculate costing for tenders, contracts and proposals
  • Identify ambiguities, risks and key issues in tender documentation
  • Experience using MS Office Suite (particularly Word & Excel)
  • Ability to develop construction schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • A basic understanding of Contract Law to interpret tender documentation
  • Basic experience engaging and managing subcontractors
