The Senior Civil Structural Engineer (Outer Harbour) is responsible for undertaking, supporting, and managing the design and asset management function of new and existing assets at the Kwinana Bulk Jetty and Kwinana Bulk Terminal, and supporting the Planning functions for all Outer Harbour assets. The Senior Civil Structural Engineer provides technical assurance to ensure all assets are safe to operate and maintain and comply with statutory requirements and national standards and delivers these functions through a combination of direct effort and external providers.
Key duties include:
- Maintains industry and best practice engineering knowledge and provides technical advice on matters related to the design, maintenance, and operation of civil and structural assets.
- Supports the technical review of Development Applications and commercial agreements at Kwinana Bulk Jetty (KBJ), Kwinana Bulk Terminal (KBT), and Kwinana Grain Terminal (KGT).
- Ensures that all Fremantle Ports’ existing and new assets at KBJ, KBT and KGT are designed, constructed, and maintained in compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and codes of practice.
- Provide input into the development of the yearly maintenance program for all civil and structural assets and liaise with the Asset Strategy branch regarding prioritisation of maintenance projects.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years’ civil / Structural Engineering experience.
- Experience in the development of Fit for Purpose solutions in a complex, brownfields operational environment.
- Strong experience in analysing existing and/or proposed assets and facilities to evaluate effectiveness and provide recommendation.
- Familiarity with Risk Assessments and Risk Management for the handling and transport of dangerous cargoes, and facilities that store or handle dangerous goods.
- Detailed knowledge of statutory requirements, regulation and national standards associated with ports, maritime infrastructure and dangerous goods.
