We are a leading engineering firm based in the heart of North Sydney, dedicated to excellence in the field of structural engineering, with a particular focus on remedial engineering solutions. We work across a diverse range of projects, due to our continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking a talented Senior Civil/Stormwater Engineer to join our dynamic team.
This is a full-time role filled by an engineer who typically has at least seven years relevant experience. This role requires experience of above and below ground drainage design for buildings, on-site detention tank design, rainwater tank design, pavement design, vehicular movements and clearance design, water quality and water sensitive urban design. A senior engineer has an understanding of architectural design objectives as well as structures, building elements and construction techniques.
This role is also responsible for attending site inspections and preparing rainwater, stormwater and flood management assessments and reports. The senior engineer is comfortable with ambiguous scope and fielding cold call enquiries. The senior engineer proposes unconventional or performance-based solutions and has demonstrated the ability to manage complex projects delivering accurate design and documentation with minimal supervision.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (Honours) / Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent level qualifications, with chartered membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia (MIEAust CPEng NER) and registered with the relevant state requirements for a professional engineer;
- Substantial civil engineering design experience with sound knowledge of stormwater design, flood assessment and management, vehicular movements and clearances, pavement and public domain design, water quality, and WSUD;
- 7+ years relevant design experience (or 10+ years industry experience);
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to scope the work, gather data, analyse and formulate an opinion and develop a complex and pragmatic solutions and designs (to think and deliver);
- First principles understanding of engineering concepts and pursues new and unconventional solutions as and when the opportunity arises;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to engage and collaborate with external agencies (clients, architects, builders);
- Ability to communicate and engage with all project team members;
- Ability to work in a small team environment;
- Keeps abreast of new knowledge through continuing professional development activities;
- Proven ability to conduct site inspections, issue site instructions promptly and write reports;
- Ability to provide engineering leadership and mentor other engineers;
- Proven project management skills from fee proposal to construction completion;
