The Qantas NSW Workers Compensation Team is growing as part of our recent awarding of a group Self Insurance Licence to now cover all companies that are part of the Qantas Group in NSW. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Workers Compensation Claims Officer to join our expanding team in New South Wales.

The Senior Claims Officer position is part of a centralized national support service that is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex and litigated claims workers' compensation claims with the aim of reducing the number and cost of these claims and hence reducing cost to the business. You will manage a wide-range portfolio of complex claims as well as review and assess workers compensation claims in accordance with NSW Workers Compensation legislation and provide guidance to Claims Officers making liability decisions.

This role will be responsible for leading and mentoring claims staff in developing effective claims and injury management strategies. You will influence, motivate and strive to deliver exceptional claims management outcomes, educating and assisting the claims team on complex and litigated claims. You will lead case reviews and assist with the development of claims management strategies on all open claims.

To be successful you will possess:

  • Higher School certificate or equivalent

  • Broad Workers Compensation Claims Management experience essential

  • Workers Compensation Self-Insurance experience preferable

  • Working knowledge of NSW legislative workers compensation framework & timeframes

  • Ability to manage complex workers compensation issues/procedures

  • Strong skills in management of barriers and strategies associated with injury and claims management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive and effective working relationships

  • Evidence of high-level attention to accuracy and detail

  • Must maintain confidentiality of information
