Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.About the roleThe Cognitive, Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS) offers a specialist multidisciplinary diagnostic service for people with early progressive changes to cognition, speech and language, function and / or behaviour. Our focus is on timely diagnosis where an expert, detailed multidisciplinary team assessment is required.The Senior Neuropsychologist will contribute to team based multidisciplinary assessments and care planning which will involve: client interviews, carer interviews and client cognitive assessments. The clinician will be working closely with OT’s, RN’s, Speech Pathologist, geriatricians and other medical staff. When indicated, specific diagnostic Neuropsychological assessments will also be completed. The clinician will use their expertise to educate the team, client and carers regarding diagnosis and management of changes in cognition, mood and behaviour. The Senior Clinician will supervise Grade 2 Neuropsychologists on the team and students; contribute to co-facilitating groups; work closely with CDAMS Coordinator in managing waitlists for Neuropsychology assessments and new client assessments; and contribute to service development and lead research initiatives. Essential: Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology.
Essential: Registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with specialist endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and registration as a Clinical Supervisor.
Essential: At least five years clinical experience and extensive experience conducting neuropsychological assessments for the purposes of differential diagnosis of dementia, and the capacity to effectively communicate these findings both verbally and in writing to all other relevant and appropriate parties.
