The Opportunity:

  • Lead Senior Clinical Psychologist – Psychological Intervention/Psychotherapy Clinic, Hotham Street
  • Community Mental Health Clinic, Preston
  • P4 - Part Time 40 hours per f/n

The Role:

Northern Health Division of Mental Health (NHDMH) require a Senior Clinical Psychologist experienced in development, delivery and implementation of psychological treatments individually and group based to consumers living with significant mental health difficulties of Northern Health Mental Health Division’s Northern Area Mental Health Service.  This role will oversee the development and implementation of the psychological intervention clinic at Hotham Street Community Based mental health service. The psychological interventions clinic and the Lead role has been developed in response to to consumer surveys that have found mental health consumers experience face to face psychotherapeutic contact as one of the most valuable and productive forms of assistance received from the public mental health system.

This role will also require the Lead to work collaboratively with the Leads from across the division, the Principal Clinical Psychology Lead and work with and assist the Area Senior the Director of Psychology (Mental Health) to provide broad leadership across a number of levels in order to develop the psychotherapeutic culture within NHDMH community teams. The lead will also promote the benefits of psychological intervention within clinical forums and through consultation with multidisciplinary teams.

The Lead Senior Clinical Psychologist - Psychotherapy will provide clinical supervision and leadership to Clinical Psychology registrars, Clinical Psychologists and other mental health clinicians across NHDMH.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in developing and delivering evidence based psychological interventions across a range of mental health conditions, such as psychotic spectrum disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, complex PTSD
  • Lead and support the psychologists and mental health clinicians working within the clinic to deliver psychotherapeutic treatments to consumers of NHDMH experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
  • Support and enhance the psychotherapeutic approaches currently in use within the MHD
  • Experienced in providing clinical supervision to psychologists and other mental health disciplines
  • Strong ethos of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health service to achieve positive recovery outcomes for our consumers.
  • Experience in working with and supporting carers
  • Experience in evaluating treatment effectiveness.
