The Business Unit Asia and Pacific is the most dynamic and diverse of the Group, as it operates directly in markets like China, Australia and New Zealand and through partnerships in the likes of South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia.

The Asia and Pacific markets are Campari Group’s commercial innovation lab, taking advantage of the advanced development of digital channels in these markets, yet still at their initial stage in our industry; the need for strong innovation in developing Routes to Market; the learning opportunities from different categories and moments of consumption habits.

General Description of the Role

The Senior Commercial Analyst - Sales will be responsible for the provision of financial analysis and decision support to the commercial team, actively assisting in business planning, trade promotions, commercial analysis and CPI management. Would be the initial point of finance support for the Australian Sales team.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Business planning

  • Develop the financial monthly rolling forecast based on the sales forecast provided to provide the Group with the latest sales outlook
  • Work with the commercial team to provide reporting and analysis to support there short term and long term planning

Customer P&L and trading terms

  • Develop and maintain Customer P&L so that the team is able to understand the potential impact of Campari’s current and proposed initiatives.
  • Assist in assessment of the probable impact to trading terms, discount structure with proposed initiative.
  • Work with commercial team on evaluation and assessment of trading terms when required.
  • Analyse the trade margin by customers and impact of customer mix on profitability.

Promotional modelling and post promotional analysis

  • Develop and provide financial estimates of the expected and actual returns from different promotions with each key customer.

Price Realisation and pricing strategy

  • Manages the price modelling and price submission with CPI changes.
  • Provide analysis using historic, competive data to support the decision making.
  • Assess financial impact of such decisions.

Channel / pack strategy

  • In conjunction with the Sales & Marketing team, create a framework that outlines the current channel/customer/pack profitability as well as facilitating a debate and discussion around an appropriate channel / pack strategy.
  • Assist in development of reporting and evaluation, tools for on premise channel.

Market Share Analysis 

  • Analyse and report market share performance and the key activities in market and evaluation thereof.
  • Provide insights into the probable cause of market share movements at total market and category level. 
  • Track the price promotion returns on various price points and issue findings to key stakeholders.
  • Analyse the promotional frequency and range and distribution gains, impacts thereof.

Strategic Planning

  • Working with the Commercial Director, develop an analytical framework that reviews the Australian alcoholic beverage market, tracks competitor/product behavior so that emerging trends and growth opportunities are identified

Adhoc finance support 

  • Development of automation tools to assist decision making within sales and marketing. For eg: On premise Profitability Model, Size of opportunity assessment for innovation, various conversion tools etc.
  • Leading/supporting in system automation process within the framework of the role like TPM tool etc..
     

Reporting relationship

The Commercial Analyst reports to the Commercial Manager who in turn reports to the Finance Director

Experience Required & skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, ideally working closely with Sales and Marketing/ Supply chain in a commercial capacity
  • Degree in Commerce/Accounting/CPA
  • Experience in Liquor industry preferred , FMCG essential
  • Proven ability to work across functions, carry out data analysis, identify trends, and develop commercial options to address commercial issues.
  • Ability to challenge status quo
  • Advanced excel skills a must
  • Good working knowledge of  SAP BI advantageous
  • Ability to interrogate Aztec/IRI advantageous
