Searson Buck is Tasmania's leading recruitment agency dedicated to connecting talented individuals with rewarding employment opportunities. We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Communications Officer to join a local government department for a 6 week temporary assignment.

Job Description: As a Senior Communications Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing communication channels and addressing queries and feedback related to public transport services. You will be responsible for responding to internal and external inquiries, managing complaints, and assisting with the preparation of official documents and responses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and timely responses to inquiries from stakeholders regarding service delivery and contract management in passenger transport services.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure accurate and prompt communication on matters related to service delivery and policy.
  • Investigate and address complaints about the department's services and decisions in an equitable and objective manner.
  • Acknowledge and manage requests and complaints efficiently, keeping requestors informed throughout the process.
  • Manage expectations by explaining processes, timeframes, and possible outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Record, file, and report responses and outcomes of requests and complaints to management.
  • Analyse requests and complaints to identify trends and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing communication channels and addressing inquiries and complaints.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and appropriate correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of public transport services and related policies and regulations is preferred.
