Southport Sharks boasts a diverse range of food and beverage outlets, multi-purpose Events Centre with a capacity for 1000 people and 120 room Mantra Hotel on site.
The Unique Role...
You will assume a pivotal role within the Events leadership team, actively participating in the dynamic and strategic operations of our endeavors. This role is a hands-on position, demonstrating leadership, mentoring and guidance through your years of experience and expertise.
In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Oversee and coordinate all logistical aspects including transportation/delivery of any event equipment, furniture, props etc.
- Exhibit managerial leadership to the Events service team by improving team morale, creating a healthy and enjoyable culture, resolving conflict and being the direct line for staff to report to.
- Develop performance management plans and identify key skill requirements, job capabilities and expertise of the Events department.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess performance, delivery and outcome of the Event with the service team and also Event administration team.
- Proactive revenue and COGS monitoring, adhering to budget.
- Present initiatives to improve COGS and profitability of the Event operation.
- Conduct reports and statistical and data analyitics
- Attend all major events and be present on the floor as a leading support to your team, and client contact.
- Ensure that events are delivered as per the event order specifications and BEO requirements.
- Confidently make impromptu decisions to resolve issues that arise during events, analyse the situation and find fast and effective solutions is critical.
- Attend weekly event meetings and other department meetings, as required.
- Liaise with external contractors and identify where additional security, cleaners, and agency staff may be necessary
Preferred skills and experience...
- Minimum 10 years experience working in a management role in a high volume Event operation
- Strong experience with financials including Income/Expenditure
- Strong understanding of Award requirements and rostering requirements
- Extensive background in Food & Beverage Management
- Outstanding communication skills and excellent customer service focus
- Advanced computer skills and Microsoft Suite
- Current Queensland Certification in RSA
- Extensive background using Ivvy is desirable
This position works on a rotating roster where days will vary, and can involve weekend work due to the nature of events.
