About the role
As a Senior Construction Estimator at Peregrine Developments, you will be responsible for estimating the costs associated with construction projects. Your role is pivotal in maintaining financial accuracy, and as such, your work plays a crucial role in supporting project feasibility and ultimately contributes to their successful execution. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and various stakeholders to meticulously prepare precise cost estimates and offer invaluable insights throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation
Analyse project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
Utilise construction estimating software and databases to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Bid Preparation
Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new construction projects.
Collaborate with the business development team to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Vendor and Supplier Relations
Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the availability of materials and services.
Value Engineering
Identify cost-saving opportunities and explore value engineering options to enhance project budgets while upholding quality.
Key behavioural traits - proficient in interpreting drawings and possessing a deep understanding of the business.
Cost Monitoring
Track project costs throughout the construction process and provide regular updates to project managers.
Identify and report any discrepancies or potential cost overruns.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, budgets, and project-related documents.
Generate reports and presentations to communicate cost-related information to management and stakeholders.
Market Research
Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations for construction materials and services.
Compliance and Regulations
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to construction costs and contracts.
Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors, to ensure project goals are met.
What we are looking for

Key skills and experience
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience as a Senior Construction Estimator, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Project management experience is a plus.
