TWH Advisory is proud to be partnering with our client who is a leading investment management business who acquire, manage and divest high quality, diverse agricultural assets across Australia. The business is a privately owned funds business who manage circa $1 billion of investments for a global network of high-net-wealth individuals, family offices and institutional clients.
We are seeking an Agri Fund Analyst to join the team, working out of corporate offices in the Melbourne CBD OR in a regional Australian location as required. The primary purpose of the role is to provide critical input to the fund’s strategic planning process and provide analytical support and guidance in the management of the existing client base, whilst ensuring the very highest ethical, environmental and safety standards are followed.
Reporting to the CEO, the Analyst will assist in developing future growth initiatives, including the identification and evaluation of attractive asset classes and segments for deployment of investment funds and the monitoring and analysis of investment returns. Data collected from farms and utilised by the Agri Analyst will play a critical role in corporate decision making and compliance for the business.
Specific responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Compilation and analysis of key agricultural sector market and economic data covering commodity, land and key inputs for local and international/export markets.
- Analysis and compilation of sources of investment capital within the Australian agricultural market.
- Assist in determining and maintaining the historical investment returns track record for Assets Under Management.
- Ensuring the company’s licence to operate is strong as a responsible corporate citizen and asset manager, plus development of ESG projects and initiatives inc. carbon reporting.
- Determining and tracking the historical market investment returns available from agricultural investments relative to current Assets Under Management.
- Segmenting historical investment returns between operating and capital appreciation by sector, asset class & geographic region.
- Completing broad research and reviewing appropriate investment management structures, business models, co-investment models, reporting practices and formats and performance metrics.
- Performing asset based performance analysis, including researching of performance driver metrics, external benchmarks, historical internal performance and development of models and forecasts.
- Reviewing and analysing competitors/comparable businesses within investment management and agriculture – structure, strategy, sources of capital, activity and performance.
- Developing investment fund investment case modelling and forecasting and asset specific investment case modelling and forecasting.
- Preparing investor presentations and capital raising proposals/information memoranda.
- Assisting with asset selection and evaluation as part of capital deployment for FUM and direct accounts.
- Assisting with technical and financial due diligence on assets targeted for acquisition.
- Providing analytical support generally to the CEO, CFO, and board.
The successful candidate will excel in a team environment partnering effectively with the executive team, board, investors and operations team. They will also be highly pro-active, independent, show good judgement and be capable of executing their role with minimal instruction and supervision.
To be successful in securing this role, the Analyst will have:
- A Commerce, Business, Agri or Finance undergraduate degree.
- 5+ years’ experience in a finance, analyst or agribusiness role including exposure to business owners and customers/clients.
- Well-developed business analytical skills.
- Strong investment modelling capabilities.
- Experienced in completing detailed and complex economic and investment analysis.
- Excellent planning skills and communication capabilities.
- Strong results orientation and a bias for action yet is also adept at engaging others.
- Good interpersonal skills with pragmatism and who can clearly articulate complex concepts and issues.
- Unquestionable integrity, open and a no-surprises approach.
- Good presence and self-confidence.
- An eye for detail, a sense of urgency and adopts a hands-on approach.
- Personal interest and lived experience of agricultural enterprises or markets will be well regarded (but is not essential).
