About the team

BDO's Assurance and Advisory teams provide a full range of risk solutions to help our clients navigate a diverse range of challenges, changes, and opportunities. The risk assurance and advisory solutions we can provide include:

  • Risk Consulting
  • Internal Audit
  • Third Party Assurance.

Current opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our Risk Advisory Services (RAS) team based in Brisbane.  This role will work closely with the RAS and wider team in leading a range of internal audits, management reviews and advice for clients.

This role offers a great variety of engagements, autonomy, client contact and direct Partner/ Director interaction and coaching.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering a variety of internal audits, business risk assurance and business process improvement projects in accordance with BDO’s methodologies and procedures. This will include report writing and communicating with clients
  • Recommending policy, procedural, process, system, and control improvements, where identified
  • Main contributor in preparing proposals / scoping documents in response to client requests
  • Developing new methodologies and service offerings
  • Contributing to the development of junior staff in a mentoring capacity
  • Maintaining meaning relationships with clients and working with stakeholders to create future business opportunities

What you’ll need to succeed

This is a client-facing consulting role that will require the successful candidate to be based in our Brisbane office.  Prior experience working in the professional services industry is a must.

  • Strong experience in internal audit or related risk management or similar role
  • Ideally an accounting or business-related degree and any other relevant certifications or qualifications (or currently obtaining)
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of basic internal audit and risk management practices and standards (IIA and ISO31000)
  • Prior experience in undertaking internal audits, risk assessments, risk management framework reviews etc.
  • A good deal of experience in internal auditing of basic financial processes and controls as well as internal auditing of operational processes
