What you’ll deliver with us 

As our Senior Data Engineer, you’ll support, develop, manage and operate our enterprise data analytics technology platform specifically, SAP Business Warehouse and Google Cloud (desired), ensuring the solutions and products are maintained to deliver efficient and effective services for our enterprise data community, all aligned towards delivering Australia Post's strategic goals of Supporting our People, Delighting our Communities & Customers, and Creating a Sustainable Future. 

As a Dev-Ops engineer, this role will support, identify and implement best-practice application administration, upgrades, code enhancements and service operation, with a focus on increasing the reliability, availability, accessibility, currency, and security of our enterprise data tools; prioritising cloud-first, self-service enablement. 

Maintaining our most critical data analytics infrastructure, this role will help to deliver cost effective, impactful data technology services that help to unlock data solutions for our enterprise.  Delivering leading edge capability for machine learning, graph optimisation, cloud Data Engineering, business analytics and visualisation.  

Please note: This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office. Days are flexible.

You’ll need

Mandatory skills list:

SAP BW / Hana

• Currently hold, or previously held an SAP BW / Hana certification, or demonstrate SAP BW / Hana experience on project and support work.
• Must have experience in SAP BW on HANA, native HANA data modelling, Query design, and experience with SAP ABAP. Experience with BW extractors, Master Data, DSOs, Cubes, Composite Providers, Open Hub Extracts, etc. Understanding of data extracts, report design and report development.

Coding languages

• Advanced modelling concepts including Analytic Views, Attribute Views, Hierarchies, Creating Restricted & Calculated Columns, Filter Operations, Variables, Creating Calculation Views, SAP HANA SQL, SQL Script and Procedures.
• Transformation Rules, ABAP Start and End Routines and Expert Routines.
• Hands on experience with Hana Studio and the various perspectives needed for developing, supporting, and monitoring solutions.

Source control, automated change management tools

• Experience with STMS, Revtrac or similar change management tools.
• Experience with Ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or similar.

Problem-solving, debugging

• Experience problem-solving or debugging application issues.
• Hands on experience with BW Process Chains , monitoring and fix on failure of loads.
• Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and identify solution options.
• Ability to document and collect detailed notes when working on defects/issues/incidents.

SQL and other database technologies

• Experience with any one SQL language or standard SQL. 
• Experience with row store and column store DB technology. 
• Experience with large DB datasets.

Nice to have skills list:

Project management and software development lifecycles

• Experience in developing reporting solutions and software testing procedures. 
• Experience in knowledge transfer sessions and supporting developed solutions.
• Experience using Agile tools such as Jira and team workspaces such as Confluence and Teams.
• Experience with SAP Data Services, monitoring DS Jobs.

Infrastructure observability and monitoring

• Experience using or building monitoring dashboards for system health or application SLAs.
• Experience with SAP BO Tools such as Crystal Reports or other.
• Experience with SUMO Log Search.

Experience with other Data Warehouse or Analytic Technologies
