Position Overview: We're seeking a Senior Development Engineer for a 24-month fixed-term project. This role involves providing engineering advice on proposed developments, ensuring compliance with standards, and fostering positive outcomes through stakeholder engagement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Engineering Assessments: Provide engineering advice and review engineering conditions for subdivision and development applications. Ensure compliance of engineering plans with Council's specifications. Assess various aspects including roads, drainage, traffic management, and site constraints.
- Data and Document Control:. Execute engineering inspections for compliance with Council's requirements. Review and approve engineering design plans and construction works.
- Legal: Represent Council in legal proceedings and provide statements of evidence. Enforce statutes and investigate complaints about non-compliance with development consents.
- Customer Service: Provide advice and investigate complaints to ensure customer needs are met. Attend meetings with stakeholders to facilitate outcomes on engineering matters.
- Process Evaluation: Review application processes and improve service delivery. Develop effective relationships with other divisions for timely referrals.
- Leadership and Management: Implement Council resolutions. Identify training needs and facilitate cross-training. Manage sensitive or contentious matters and escalate when necessary.
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or surveying.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering road and drainage design assessment and construction certification.
- Ability to provide and evaluate engineering solutions in complex situations.
- Class C Driver's Licence and White Card.
- Postgraduate degree in a related field.
- Understanding of greenfield development issues and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with Council's DCPs, LEPs, and specifications.
