About the role
This position is a full-time role in the Development Services team based at Council’s Moruya Administration Office. The successful candidate will assist the Coordinator Development Engineering in assessing the impact of development on Council’s public infrastructure and facilitate the approval of appropriate development.
Your main duties will include:
- Providing advice on development applications, inspections and engineering issues.
- Engaging with stakeholders including builders, developers, architects and the community, delivering technical information and clarifying Council's engineering policies and practices.
- Assessing engineering referrals for development applications, recommending conditions for consents and providing specialist advice to various Council officers.
- Carrying out Development Engineering work under delegated authority.
- Contributing to the development, implementation and review of policies and guidelines.
- Undertaking special assignments and assessments with a focus on high complexity.
Salary information
Total remuneration for the role is in the range $113,727.64 to $125,694.52 gross per annum consisting of:
- $98,992.59 to $109,408.99 base salary
- $3,464.74 to $3,829.31 Civil Liability Allowance (calculated at 3.5% of the base salary)
- $11,270.31 to $12,456.21 superannuation (calculated at 11%)
A fully maintained Council leaseback vehicle (including full private usage) is available with this position.

About you
Are you an experienced professional in civil or environmental engineering with a passion for driving sustainable development? We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Development Engineer.
In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with the Coordinator Development Engineering to assess development impacts on public infrastructure and assets, ensuring alignment with council standards and principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development. You will be a dynamic team player and should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in related civil engineering fields.
- Well-developed knowledge of the design, construction and operation of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, water and sewerage systems.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, including negotiation skills.
- Understanding of Ecologically Sustainable Development.
