Job description

Tasmania is part of a nationwide program of work that is delivering innovations in the treatment of Eating Disorders. The Tasmania Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) is a new service, that will deliver integrated specialist care for adults with an Eating Disorder.  This includes Community-Based Intensive Treatment (CBIT) Programs in the North, North West and South and a statewide and Residential Recovery Program (RRP).  

We are looking for clinicians with an interest in Eating Disorders (no prior experience in Eating Disorders required) who are innovators and have a passion for delivering quality care. 

The role:

As part of the TEDS state-wide multidisciplinary team, deliver high quality mental health care for people with an Eating Disorder and their family and carers, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

The TEDS Senior Dietitian will:

  • Provide high-level clinical expertise in nutrition and dietetics to consumers of the TEDS including:
    • Comprehensive nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation for people with an Eating Disorder.
    • Specialist nutrition interventions for individuals and groups participating in the RRP and CBIT program.
  • Provide specialist secondary consultation and liaison services, acting as a nutrition expert and resource for a range of internal and external health professionals, as well as engaging in the promotion of health and advocating for the dietetic profession as appropriate.
  • Participate in the delivery of person-centred care informed by individual personal recovery, systems and relational practice frameworks.
  • Work within and contribute to a clinical practice evaluation, performance and research framework which delivers improved clinical outcomes for consumers and their family and carers.

Details of Appointment

Permanent part time, day worker position working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $106,966 to $118,114 per annum + 11% superannuation 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $111,964 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Dietitians Australia (DA) or overseas qualified dietitians will be required to complete Dietetic Skills Recognition (DSR) through Dietitians Australia.
  2. Eligible to join Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Program.
  3. Eligible for full membership with Dietitians Australia
  4. Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
  5. Full member of Dietitians Australia
  6. Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Current Driver’s Licence

  2. Holds or is working to credentialing as an Accredited Practising Dietitian

  3. Experience working with people experiencing Eating Disorders or other
    mental health conditions.

  4. Eating Disorder Credentialled practitioner

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  • crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
