About the opportunity
As a Senior Disputes Specialist at MLC, you’ll be responsible for looking at adverse insurance claims that have been sent to insurer and the result does not match with the client is expecting, and this team also handles all external disputes for all products, claims and services – including death objections. You’ll also be expected to keep an eye out for any possible systemic incidents as you investigate through each case, though as a true seasoned professional this is something you do naturally. This role will also see you dealing with AFCA through written replies, attending conciliation conferences on behalf of the trustee and respond to AFCA as the complaint progresses through to determination.
Other pivotal parts of this opportunity include delivery of complaints training to our front-line contact centre staff, plus ad-hoc project work such as reviewing documentation for the fund. You will be joining an incredibly supportive, close-knit team, who genuinely care about each other and love what they do, never passing the buck and always pitching in to help as they care about achieving the best possible result for the client. To top it all off you will be reporting to a leader who takes care of their team and provides lots of opportunities for career development (as long as the work gets done) such as attending conferences, networking events or courses. It’s important to note that we have two roles available, one permanent and one 12-month fixed term contract.
What we are looking for in a successful candidate
Throughout your career you have developed a high level of empathy, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to problem solve and think on your feet and it goes without saying that your written and verbal communication skills are second to none. You are also across all relevant lingo and have familiarity around AFCA processes and relevant superannuation and insurance legislation and ideally trustee exposure as well as both insurance claims and superannuation experience.
You enjoy working autonomously while still collaborating closely with the broader team, open to pitching in and sharing your thoughts and ideas in a true collaborative environment (especially during fortnightly complex claim forums). People describe you as someone who is open to change, adaptable with great attention to detail, who has a positive ‘can do’ approach to their role. If you’re excited about the prospect of joining a team who always strive for their best, a leader who genuinely cares about their crew, and a company that you can be proud to say you work for, then what are you waiting for?
