We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Distribution Design Specialist at Perth Head Office Wellington Street Perth, on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
About this role
As the Senior Distribution Design Specialist, you will be accountable for preparing design, quality assurance and implementing network design policies, standards, functional specifications.
To provide a focal point for technical expertise and technical leadership, implement technical criteria for the distribution network as well as providing design support to team members
- To provide the organisation with strategic and functional requirements of design standards, policies and specifications, resulting in safe, reliable, and affordable outcomes.
- To provide technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders on implementing policies, standards, and specifications
- Clarification on technical standards options that deliver affordable outcomes yet meeting acceptable safety and efficiency standards
- Ensuring the right balance of the strategic and tactical (functional vs detailed) advice is provided to the business to enable creative and innovative outcomes
- Review network design projects according to Western Power requirements, network policies, strategic standards, customer connection standards and functional specifications
- Assist in the analysis an impact assessment of new Australian and International Standards and Regulations on the compliance and performance of the network
- Contribute to the review of Technical Rules, policies and guidelines for network investment, and Planning Criteria
- Build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Participate stakeholder meetings and provide a technical solution in alignment with network standards & policy function into the options analysis and scope development.
- Implement timely and robust policy, standards, and specifications decisions within team.
- Deliver timely, accessible, and accurate policy and standards advice to key stakeholders.
- Ensure network policies, standards and specifications that are consistent with long term development plans and the network investment strategy.
- Engage with both internal and external stakeholders in the development or network policies, standards
- Provide support to the transmission & Distribution Design & Planning, Standards teams including Senior, Principal Engineers including the Area Manager and Engineering Team Leaders where required.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Trade and Diploma Level Qualification in Engineering coupled with extensive experience and knowledge
- Very well-developed written, verbal and presentation communications skills
- Significant knowledge and expertise with at least 10+ years' experience in design, operation, and maintenance of electricity networks

- Solid customer and stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills
- Ability to influence key stakeholders
