The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Ecologist to join our team in Melbourne.
Reporting to the Ecology and Environmental Team Lead, you’ll be delivering ecology services to a range of projects in typically transport, maritime, water, and the built environment.
You’ll be the technical specialist that provides ecological input, advice and expertise on studies and engineering projects and develop environmental solutions in collaboration with other internal/external professionals.
As the Senior Ecologist, you will collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team and contribute to creative solutions that yield award winning outcomes. You will provide technical guidance and training to less experienced members of your team.
Your role will include (but not limited to):
- Working independently and/or under the instructions of the project manager to complete environmental tasks as required, contributing to Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and other environmental studies or management plans.
- Author sections of reports or whole reports and provide technical reviews of others work
- Maintain current knowledge of local council, state government and federal legislation and guidelines as they relate to ecological and environmental management.
- Undertaking external stakeholder consultation including local and state government regulators.
- Actively maintain professional networks within the company and across broader industry.
- As a Project Manager work on bids, plans, sets up and deliver allocated projects on time, on budget and within Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), quality, and other company prescribed parameters, whilst meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Who are you?
You are an experienced and driven Ecology professional with the demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplined consulting environment.
You understand the importance of actively maintaining professional networks within the company and across the infrastructure industry, building strong relationships with a government departments and industry stakeholders.
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in science (particularly environmental/natural sciences)
- Relevant work experience in the field of ecology and environment
- Maintain and provide evidence of a current Driver’s License
- Eligibility for membership in a professional association
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous technical experience in the field as an ecologist or environmental scientist (preferably 6-10 years).
