Senior Economic Analyst, Provisioning

The Role

Reporting to The Manager, Provisioning, the Senior Economic Analyst will have a key role contributing to the enhanced microeconomic analysis, encompassing enhanced planning, engagement and training market intervention.

Contribute to the development and implementation of a detailed place-based approach to the allocation of training places across Victoria's regions, TAFEs and other training providers. This provides the key means through which the Government's TAFE funding guarantee is delivered.

It ensures the timely administration, implementation, and management of analytics and reporting to inform senior leadership on complex training needs and VET system settings.

The Team

The position of Senior Economic Analyst, Provisioning forms a part of the Skills and Employment Group and Policy and Strategy Branch. This Branch leads the policy settings, performance monitoring and budget management for the Victorian Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. PSB partners across jurisdictions to influence strong skills outcomes though a contemporary national VET system. The branch influences and collaborates in policy design across the Department portfolios to achieve goals for all learners including cohorts of focus, using different system levers. PSB engages across the whole government to lead policy coordination for SE and contributes to strategic projects of SE priority.

About You

  • Demonstrated knowledge of economics and experience with modelling and analytics
  • Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably
  • Sets clearly defined objectives and priorities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required
  • Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels
