The role

  • Full Time, Continuing
  • Level 8 - $107,199 to $121,340 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Location: Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Canberra, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie or Wagga Wagga

As the Senior Employee Relations Specialist, you will provide expert advice on a range of complex Employee Relations and human resource matters in alignment with the legislative, regulatory and industrial obligations applicable to the University.

Working closely with the HR Business Partners and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team, you will provide specialist advice, support and education, in the management and resolution of performance matters, serious misconduct, employment grievances and complex disputes.

Additionally, you will lead projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing Employee Relations across the university as well as monitor, evaluate and review appropriate policies and practices. You will provide coaching, support and education to managers and leaders to build capability in handling challenging or complex Employee Relations matters.

About you

You will have a relevant qualification and 8+ years’ experience in industrial relations and Employee Relations within a complex industry.

Your technical knowledge of applying and interpreting industrial relations and employment legislation and enterprise agreements will be strong, along with the ability to provide advice on these instruments and complex IR/ER issues.

High level communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role as you will need to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders including unions, managers and leaders, and employees at all levels. You will naturally seek opportunities to collaborate with the HR Business Partners, and managers and leaders, to ensure proactive support, guidance, and resolution of matters.
