Senior Environment And Sustainability Officer (10 Month Temporary Opportunity)

In this role, you'll:

Support the planning and development of Australia’s first High Speed Rail network. This high-profile transformational project will connect Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and regional communities across the east coast of Australia, allowing passengers to travel between major cities at speeds exceeding 250Km per hour! The first priority of the High Speed Rail Program is planning for the Sydney to Newcastle business case.

To assist with the early stages of the program we are looking for an experienced Senior Environment & Sustainability Officer to provide expert advice to stakeholders on a range of environmental management, compliance, planning and assessment requirements. You will also be responsible for producing a range of documents and presentations for engagement and reporting purposes.
 
You will be identifying environmental risks and issues for the project and provide advice in the development and implementation of effective environmental strategies to support the resolution of environmental matters. 

You will use your expertise to ensure we meet environmental and Sustainability obligations whilst balancing the needs and expectations of various stakeholders and communities.

About you

You make smart choices, deliver on promises and are keen to build your technical skills to run a sustainable Transport network.

Alongside your tertiary qualifications in environmental science (or related discipline), you will have experience in writing and reviewing Environmental Impact Assessments and collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

You have a demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate environmental performance and can be relied upon to provide constructive advice and guidance. Experience in lineal infrastructure, biodiversity assessment and Sustainability would also be looked upon favourably.

This is a temporary opportunity up to 30.06.2025. Whilst this is a hybrid role, there is an expectation to work from either our Sydney (Milsons Point) or Newcastle offices 3-4 days per week (ideally).
