Part of the new Health Funding, Finance and Investment Division, the Budget Strategy and Financial Sustainability branch will bring together portfolio BUDGET STRATEGY, health service and funded agency financial performance, and oversight of whole of system FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY under a single umbrella.
About the role
The Senior Executive Director (SED), Budget Strategy and Financial Sustainability, is an integral and highly strategic role in the Health Funding, Finance and Investment division of the Department of Health. Working closely with the Deputy Secretary, Health Funding, Finance and Investment, the SED provides critical executive leadership, managing initiatives to fortify the FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY of the health and community system and bringing together portfolio BUDGET STRATEGY, health service and funded agency financial performance, with oversight of whole of system of FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY. The SED leads a team of executive leaders and Directors to provide advice and expertise in relation to the Department’s portfolio budget outlook and funding reforms. Bridging the strategic and commercial needs of healthcare services and the Department, the SED will lead efficiency and financial improvement initiatives that ensure the FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY of health services.

A highly credible and strategic people leader, with a proven ability to influence and connect people, your diverse public sector career, demonstrates a capacity to navigate politically sensitive and complex change environments. Coupled with your passion for enhancing the state’s healthcare landscape, you excel in building safe and inclusive high-performing teams, uplifting organisational capabilities and building collaborative partnerships. Ideally, you bring a comprehensive understanding of complex funding structures and a penchant for disruptive thinking. Your ability to translate technical requirements into operational strategies will be instrumental in garnering shared commitment towards positive change.
