Job description

Senior Geologist for Pumped Hydrogen Projects. Expertise in geological assessments, reservoir modelling, risk mitigation.

Join a leading innovator in sustainable energy solutions at the forefront of revolutionising the power industry. Our client is a dynamic organisation committed to pioneering advancements in renewable energy technologies, with a focus on Pumped Hydrogen projects. As they embark on ambitious initiatives to shape the future of clean energy, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geologist to play a pivotal role in their Pumped Hydrogen ventures.
As the Senior Geologist for Pumped Hydrogen Projects, the successful candidate will lead geological assessments and analyses crucial to the development and implementation of large-scale energy storage solutions. Leveraging their expertise in geology and hydrology, they will provide invaluable insights into site selection, reservoir characterisation, and risk assessment, ensuring the success and sustainability of Pumped Hydrogen projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Selection and Characterisation:
  • Conduct comprehensive geological surveys and analyses to identify suitable sites for Pumped Hydrogen projects.
  • Assess geological formations, subsurface structures, and hydrological conditions to determine reservoir viability and storage capacity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate environmental, geological, and regulatory factors influencing site selection and development.
Reservoir Modelling and Simulation:
  • Develop detailed geological models of reservoir formations using advanced software tools and techniques.
  • Perform reservoir simulations and predictive modelling to assess fluid dynamics, pressure behaviour, and potential reservoir performance over time.
  • Utilise geophysical data and geostatistical methods to optimise reservoir management strategies and enhance project efficiency.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
  • Identify geological and geotechnical risks associated with Pumped Hydrogen projects and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges.
  • Conduct geohazard assessments and seismic analyses to ensure project resilience and safety in diverse geological environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate geological considerations into project design and planning processes.
Environmental Impact Assessment:
  • Evaluate the environmental impact of Pumped Hydrogen projects on surrounding ecosystems, groundwater resources, and land use.
  • Recommend mitigation measures and best practices to minimise environmental disturbances and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support permitting processes by providing geological data, assessments, and environmental impact statements as required by regulatory authorities.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geologists and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Foster collaboration with external consultants, research institutions, and industry partners to leverage expertise and resources for project advancement.
  • Represent the company in technical conferences, workshops, and industry forums to showcase their leadership in Pumped Hydrogen technology and geological innovation.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in geological exploration, reservoir characterisation, and hydrogeological analysis, with a focus on energy or water resource projects.
  • Proficiency in geological modelling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoModeller, Schlumberger Eclipse) and hydrogeological simulation tools.
  • Strong understanding of geological principles, sedimentology, structural geology, and groundwater dynamics.
  • Experience with environmental impact assessment, regulatory compliance, and permitting processes for energy infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex geological concepts and findings to diverse audiences.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement in a rapidly growing industry.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment with a commitment to sustainability and innovation.
