This position will:
- Provide concept solutions and business cases with options in relation to identified transport infrastructure and geotechnical needs for 10-year capex plan.
- Liaise effectively with elected members, contractors, clients, other council staff and the general community in accordance with the principles and philosophy of customer service.
- Commit to the principles of excellent Quality and Environmental performance as evidence by continuing ISO accreditation and a focus on Best Practice performance.
- Ensure all work is completed to the Council Standards, Australian Standards, Austroads Guidelines and other associated standards.
About you
To be successful in the role you will have a Degree in Civil Engineering coupled with extensive experience, and a broad range of experience in design, maintenance and operation of civil and geotechnical infrastructure. Bachelor of Technology (Civil Engineering) or associate degree Civil Engineering will be considered with extensive experience in civil engineer (geotechnical areas).
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland or eligibility for corporate membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia (within 12 months) is highly desirable for Engineers. Technical staff should be eligible as an Engineering Technologist.
You will have extensive experience as an engineer with a broad range of experience in design, maintenance and operation of civil and geotechnical infrastructure, in particular, investigations of requests or complaints relating to geotechnical matters and knowledge and experience of civil and geotechnical design principles, guidelines, Codes of Practice and relevant State documents. You will also have knowledge and experience of geotechnical legislation in its application to the design and planning of civil and geotechnical infrastructure.
Your comprehensive knowledge and experience with current industry standards of practice, in particular Australian Standards, in the design, construction and maintenance of civil and geotechnical infrastructure will be clearly evident, as will your knowledge of standards and procedures used by external organisations when applying for state and federal funding.
You will require a Current “C” class drivers licence and a Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
