The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:
- 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
- 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
- 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
- up to six new substation sites.
This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Senior GIS Analyst to join the team.
As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining core GIS standards and processes as well as analyzing, interpreting, and outputting spatial data to support environment, heritage, design, and construction. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that spatial data is utilized effectively to optimize project delivery.
What will a day in this role look like:
- Analyze, interpret, and output spatial data and derived products to support the project.
- Produce high standard cartographic outputs.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to optimize data flows, design, and delivery.
- Maintain core GIS standards and processes including metadata, single-point-of-truth, and data flow controls.
- Develop and maintain GIS databases and systems.
- Develop and maintain an accurate and current online presence.
- Provide training and support to users of the GIS as required.
What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GIS software and databases. (ESRI.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
- Willingness to visit sites for setup and training
- Environmental data experience desirable.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise desirable.
- Basic Python skills desirable.
