Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 6 of EBA5 * 9-day fortnight
  • 72.5-hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days

About our opportunity
The Strategic Planning and Place Making Department takes a strategic approach to long term planning and policy development to shape the growth, urban form, accessibility, and livability of our region whilst managing natural hazards and protecting and conserving our natural resources, environment, and heritage. The department's plans, programs and initiatives are structured to meet the requirements of the Southeast Queensland Regional Plan and related State legislation, in addition to supporting local demands and needs.
As our Senior Heritage Planner in the Urban Design and Heritage team you will provide specialist heritage planning expertise and lead and support the delivery of moderate-to-complex heritage planning and strategic planning projects and services to me the needs of the community. This dynamic team has a strong focus on creative ideas and problems solving for complex planning matters, this is your opportunity to provide leadership and guidance to team members in the delivery of strategic land use and heritage planning matters.
Additionally, you will:
  • provide technical input into the development and implementation of key policy relating to the planning scheme, significant major projects and key heritage planning activities
  • represent Council at a range of customer meetings, community consultations, and business forums
  • partner and foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate major projects
About You:
You will have considerable knowledge and experience in heritage planning and development assessment practices, with a degree in Urban and Regional planning, heritage, town planning or another relevant field. We are seeking people who work well in a team and are passionate about improving development outcomes for future communities.
Additionally, you will have:
  • experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill set
  • substantial knowledge and experience in applying relevant state and local government legislation, including the Planning Act 2016, Queensland Heritage Act 1992, SEQ Regional Plan, Council planning schemes, local laws and policies
  • considerable experience in the delivery of moderate-to-complex heritage planning projects and leading project-based teams
  • demonstrated experience in project management and associated risk management practices
