About the role
Viterra is seeking a Senior Internal Control Officer, based in Melbourne. In this position, you will be working in a challenging, dynamic and international environment where you will further support the design and implementation of the Viterra Internal Control Framework and work towards a more harmonized and standardized way of approaching control both locally and throughout the Viterra Group. This role has dual reporting line, administratively reporting to the CFO in the entity and functionally to the Manager of Enterprise Risk and Group Internal Control.
Duties
- Further design and implement the Viterra Internal Control Framework and identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement through an understanding of the entity.
- Participate in and support the implementation of SOX within Viterra entities.
- Active collaboration with Management to design and implement key controls.
- Further facilitate the identification and resolution of Segregation of Duties risk within the entity.
- Design, plan and execute an annual ongoing control compliance monitoring program based on the Viterra Internal Control Framework requirements.
- Provide support and resolution of risks identified in collaboration with management and Internal / External audit; support the internal process of tracking and validating audit finding resolution, provide input to periodic Audit & Risk Committee reporting.
- Assist in the development and leading of regular training/awareness programs to train and educate risk owners within the region on Internal Controls topics.
- Support the roll-out and consistent use of relevant GRC tooling.
- A qualified degree in Accounting & Finance (preferably CPA or equivalent);
- At least 7 - 9 years’ relevant risk and Internal Control experience (preferable in a Big4 firm) with a strong interest in building a risk based Internal Control framework;
- Several years of experience with SOX Internal Control cycle & control assessment and evidencing specifics;
- Experience to facilitate discussion around key risks and applying risk evaluation methodology;
- Working experience with control frameworks such as COSO, COBIT, ISO are a plus.
- Strong functional knowledge, experience in logistics/trading/supply chain is a plus.
- Proactive and no-nonsense mentality, ability to work independently as well as in a team;
- Accurate, strong communication skills and good analytical skills;
- Curiosity and willingness to learn the company’s business;
- Catalyst for change with the ability to drive continuous change;
- Deliver through others/ability to influence people at all levels and to build relationships with these stakeholders;
- Affinity to systems and tooling, interest in automation and continuous monitoring.
