The ANZ Plus Legal team is looking for people to help us redefine banking for the future. Reporting to Head of Legal, ANZ Plus you will play a key role in providing strategic legal advice and practical and innovative solutions to ANZ Plus, with a focus on reimagining financial services and consumer lending. You will ensure that legal issues are addressed, and needs are met for ANZ Plus to achieve their objectives.
Some of the activities as a Senior Lawyer may include:
provide proactive advice on compliance with laws in the development of new and innovative services, products, and channels, with a focus on helping improve customer financial wellbeing,
provide general legal advice on day-to-day operations and matter with a focus on being proactive,
help resolve complex and innovative legal, regulatory or customer problems and providing legal education on the same,
help assess and implement regulatory change, strategic change, and growth initiatives,
provide regulatory advice and advice on compliance with law (including breach reporting) on complex regulatory issues facing the supported business,
negotiate and draft documentation and assist with execution of complex transactions relating to products and services,
continuously and proactively evaluate and improve the way the team delivers legal support, including to continuously improve efficiency,
proactively help stakeholders understand the legal and regulatory landscape and its impact on their transactions, projects, and initiatives,
oversee delivery of legal services to the supported business,
provide mentoring and coaching to team members

What will you bring?

Have a Law Degree and admission to practice in Victoria.
More than 10 years post-qualification experience as a lawyer (either as an in-house counsel and/or in private practice) with strong technical legal expertise in banking, retail financial services law or consumer credit law with privacy law strongly preferred.
Proven ability to mentor and coach team members.
Proven ability to exercise excellent judgement in the identification and management of legal risk.
Have a keen interest in, and understanding of, the commercial, customer experience and legal considerations that underpin digital financial services and lending.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, client focus and the ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships; as well as problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Have demonstrated experience in exercising excellent judgement, providing technically accurate, proactive, innovative and commercially astute legal advice, and proactively influencing outcomes.
Have a proven track record of collaboration, with a positive attitude demonstrated, promoting ANZ Values and our aspirational culture.
Have strong ability to work at pace with care.
