About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lecturer with experience and expertise in Clinical Skills teaching, learning and assessment to focus their efforts on leveraging their established record of achievement in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research and service and engagement. At this level, the appointee may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and is expected to have an established record of scholarship of learning and teaching in medical education.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching: Provide leadership in the delivery of the Clinical Skills program in Year 1 and Year 2 of the MD program in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Education academic staff and MD Learning Hub staff
  • Contribute to Clinical Skills teaching program by tutoring two (2) small group learning sessions per week in your area of expertise (e.g., Clinical & Professional Learning, Clinical Communication Skills, or Procedural Skills)
  • Contribute to other teaching, learning and assessment activities as required, including the OSCEs
  • Research: Maintain an active record of producing quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms as lead contributor, by publishing or exhibiting in national research journals, other appropriate refereed publications, and conference publications
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Demonstrate and lead others in the responsible conduct of research.
  • Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and management and development of researcher capability and skill.

This is a part-time (50%), continuing position.

At Academic level C. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201 - $152,202 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676- $178,076 annually.

About You

  • An MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia and a clinical Fellowship (or evidence of progress towards a Fellowship) in a relevant field will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in the development and delivery of medical education materials relevant to small group settings, including simulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver workshops and seminars to support professional development.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex working environment.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership skills, including capacity for high-level interpersonal communication, collaboration, and the building of effective teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • ·Evidence of a program of scholarly work in medical education and national recognition in this area
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships, and to represent and promote the discipline to academic, industry, government and professional bodies.


In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
  • AHPRA: It is a condition of employment for this role that you are required to have and maintain Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration during the course of your employment Or eligibility to obtain registration.
