- Base salary range: $132,381 - $152,279 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team
The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia (RCSWA) is a network of 15 rural and remote sites across the Kimberley, Pilbara, Mid-West, Goldfields, Great Southern and South West regions of Western Australia. It is a collaboration between UWA, The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle and Curtin Medical School, operating as a unit within the UWA School of Medicine. The RCSWA is committed to providing quality teaching, research, professional development and clinical service in rural and remote settings.
Located in the Northam office of the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA), the Medical Coordinator will cover the Wheatbelt office within the Southern Regional Training Hub as part of the Integrated Rural Training Pipeline (IRTP). This position is supported by a Narrogin-based Project Officer who visits Northam regularly as well as a statewide virtual team of project officers and Medical Coordinators to plan and implement local initiatives to increase and retain the Wheatbelt medical workforce.
About the opportunity
The Medical Coordinator's (MCs) main responsibility is to develop and coordinate the development of rural training pathways in the Wheatbelt area and contribute to a statewide RCSWA approach in this area.
Building positive relationships with external stakeholders is an essential part of this position and there may also be broader portfolio responsibilities.
There is the possibility of participating in the RCSWA teaching program including assisting with organising and teaching of RCSWA junior doctors and their supervisors.
MCs can also be supported to develop in other academic areas (research, service, further clinical skills) depending on their interests.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:
- Registered, or able to be registered with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
- Committed to working in medical practice in rural Western Australia
- Available to work in the respective RCSWA site and the ability to network with rural practitioners in the region.
- Experience as a preceptor and/or supervisor of junior doctors or registrars.
- Effective organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
- A commitment to the principles and practice of Indigenous health in rural and regional areas.
- Practice medicine in rural WA
- A commitment to rural medical education and to improving rural medical workforce
