Senior Legal Counsel

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial and Operations to provide legal support in relation to Tri-Star’s Australian and US operated and non-operated assets. The position will support the General Manager - Legal and Company Secretary (Australia & US) and will also work collaboratively with the company's commercial, operations and procurement teams. 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Commercial and Joint Ventures Support the GM Legal to develop, revise and negotiate contracts and other commercial agreements, including but not limited to joint ventures, acquisitions and sales, confidentiality, compliance/operations, procurement matters and data trade matters.
• Corporate and Governance Provide advice to business on investments in listed companies and support commercial team with investment approvals. Support GM Legal in Company Secretariat function.  
• Compliance/Operations Drafting and negotiation of agreements and other documentation and advice and assistance in relation to: petroleum, gas and minerals legislation in Queensland, NT and SA, land access, native title and cultural heritage, environmental legislation, workplace, health and safety, trade practices and competition law. 
• Procurement Review, drafting and negotiation of procurement contracts and providing advice and assistance with more complex legal issues.

We are keen to brief candidates with 5-8 years’ post-admission who have commercial transactional and corporate experience in the energy and resources sector. Backgrounds from either in private practice or in-house will be considered.
