About the opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel and Company Secretary. With a focus on the negotiation and preparation of a wide range of commercial contracts and provision of legal advice, the role acts as a key point of contact for senior managers in relation to all legal issues affecting the Bolton Clarke Group. This is a rare opportunity to join the inhouse legal team of Australia’s largest aged care provider.
Key tasks
- Advise on a broad range of areas including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, commercial, construction, ICT, property, privacy, retirement villages and aged care.
- Provide advice to senior managers in relation to corporate projects, including strategic transactions and business transformation initiatives.
- Assist internal clients in identifying, understanding and managing legal risks and issues.
- Effectively manage the provision of advice by external legal providers where required.
- Brief the General Counsel on significant legal matters.
- 5 - 15 years post admission experience in a law firm or in-house legal team, practising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate, construction, property, aged care or retirement village law. Previous commercial, property or aged care / retirement village law experience is desirable.
- A demonstrated ability to provide concise advice and research on a broad range of legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication ability.
- A demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, excellent time management skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
