The Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for partnering with finance and operations to provide timely management reporting and financials, expert advice, analysis, ongoing support, and guidance to drive performance and profitability of the group and its assets.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:-
- Provide timely and accurate management and financial reporting, offering interpretation, analysis, and valuable insights.
- Prepare essential financial reporting documents, including budgets, forecasts, cashflows, statutory reports, and tax compliance documents.
- Provide financial insight, analysis, and will strategic support to the mine site team.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for differences between budgeted and actual results.
- Provide financial input and analysis for capital investment projects and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with JV reporting and communications.
- Prepare financial information and analysis in response to requests from the Group Financial Controller and GM Finance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve profit margins and manage cashflow effectively.
- Participate in year-end and half-year-end processes, including the preparation of statutory accounts, audit, and impairment testing. Contribute to the preparation of inputs for consolidated accounts.
- Learn to evaluate the financial aspects of proposed acquisitions, investments, mergers, or asset/business sales.
Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Commerce, coupled with CA/CPA qualifications
- Commercial experience as a Management Accountant with a Big 4 / Public Practice background
- Experience in the mining, resources, oil & gas, or manufacturing sectors highly desirable
- High level of financial and business acumen and business partnering with operational teams
- Advanced excel and systems skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage competing workloads and priorities
- A positive and friendly demeanour with a strong customer service focus
- Ability to maintain excellent working relationships
- Collaborative team player
- High attention to detail
