PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Supports the Chief Financial Officer by providing strategic and pro-active leadership and direction to the Finance and Business Team and assist Power

and Corporation (PWC) and its subsidiaries in meeting business objectives by providing efficient and effective commercial, financial and operational

accounting services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Function

  • Provide effective leadership and resource management to facilitate the achievement of core business objectives together with building the
capability and competency of the Finance and Business Team with a focus on talent management and succession planning.

  • Provide expert advice to the Executive Leadership Team and the Chief Financial Officer with regard to the financial health of the Corporation
including long term financing and borrowing decisions and investment analysis.

  • Work closely with the Economics and Regulation team regarding the provision of financial information for regulatory purposes (eg annual return
to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER)).

  • Ensure the Corporation’s reporting requirements are appropriate to meet the Corporation’s business needs together with continuous
improvement across all areas of responsibility.

  • Analyses PWC financial performance and external factors to develop and clearly communicate key insights to inform PWC strategy development.
  • Oversees management accounting services for all lines of business (Power Services; Water Services; Gas Services; Remote Services; Core
Operations; Customer, Strategy & Regulation; and Corporate) business units, including supporting the development of business unit level

budgets, forecasting and variance reporting.

  • Supports all business units to develop business insights from financial data that inform business unit planning.
Employee Engagement & Wellbeing

  • Coach and assist the development of strategies and action plans to improve team engagement and morale.
  • With the support and advice of the People and Culture Business Partners, provide guidance to all employees using correct, relevant information,
ensuring all employee relations issues, (including those falling under EEO and WHS legislation are dealt with in an appropriate manner).

  • Coach employees on problems affecting work performance.
Business Planning

  • In consultation with the Business Unit Executives and the Chief Financial Officer, assist in establishing performance targets and participate in
business planning and strategy determinations.

  • Lead and guide the business in the preparation of annual budget and forecasts
  • Lead the preparation of budgets and other management plans with respect to Finance and Business functions.
Leadership

  • Ownership and accountability for driving meaningful and sustainable change across the Finance and Business functions (including investing and
building sustainable capabilities among employees, while increasing engagement and job satisfaction).

  • Act under own initiative and be able to respond pro-actively in a changing and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage upwards at Executive Management level and obtain support in an environment of conflicting priorities and perspectives.
  • Development and review of MyPlans for direct reports.

Qualification & Skills Experience
